Average Mobile Data Consumption of Indian Mobile Users to Increase

According to Google India Head Rajan Anandan, the mobile data consumption in India will increase to nearly 11GB per month in the next four years. At the Google for India 2017 event, Anandan said that India has crossed 400 million internet users out of which 330 million are connected smartphone users.

As per the statement currently an average Indian mobile user consumes 4GB of data every month. He further stated that this consumption is expected to grow up to 11GB per month over the next 4 years. He also mentioned that a major part of the population was still not connected to the internet despite of the consumption growth.

Over the last several years, we have focused on creating access to the open Internet, creating products and platforms that solve for India’s unique needs, and to make the Internet work in Indian languages”, added Anandan sying that they are committed towards bringing about a change in this.

Out of the 230 million Indian language users, 170 million are using messaging services and 106 million Indians are online news readers. As per Amitabh Kant, the CEO of Niti Aayog, Google is working on solutions for the billions of population in India and this will result in development of solutions for the entire globe.
